Leadership Summit Recap

Can I be honest with you? I don’t give a crap about how awesome our eyeshadow is, or how our Countermatch lotion is liquid gold. I’ll tell you they’re great, because they are, but if you think I’m here to sell you pretty makeup, you’ve mistaken me for someone else. Beautycounter is a disruptive brand. Did you know that our name does not stand for a literal counter full of beauty products, but rather; for going against the grain when it comes to beauty standards. We are changing the future, and standing up for our health, our family’s health, and your health. Maria Shriver said to us this weekend, “there is no politician who would be working on this if it wasn’t for you.”

What an incredible experience we all had in Minneapolis the past few days. It’s super motivating to be amongst four thousand women who are all hardworking, passionate, excited, and successful. What an honor to walk among them. Within minutes of the opening ceremony, there were tears. Here are some of the stories we heard from our peers & their families:

  • Cancer survivors who learned about the harmful ingredients in personal care products, and need to share that information with everyone they know.
  • A daughter of parents who passed way too young, and who wants to be on Earth longer for her own children.
  • Husbands who are proud of their wives for standing up and speaking out, and not taking no for an answer, because everyone deserves to know the truth about the skincare industry.
  • A child, a boy, who is so, so happy that his mom is there to greet him after school and attend all of his events, because she has a flexible schedule.
  • A consultant, who’s goal was to make $10,000 a month, to be able to quit her office job and be there for her kids. This past January she was able to do just that.

No one has done what we have done. No one has given a voice to a movement like ours. No one has pushed Congress like we have. No company has had the courage to refresh & reinvent the Direct Sales market like us.

We are transparent. We are forward thinking. We are spirited, determined, and thoughtful. We keep the environment in mind and we keep you and your family at the top of our priority list.

By now you can’t still be thinking I’m here to sell you makeup. By now, it should be clear that if you think the products you’re using are regulated by the government, I’m terribly sad to say you’re wrong. By now, it should be evident that change is needed and our lives are at risk.

If you think I’m being dramatic, look at the rise in cancer rates. Look at the rise of infertility, Alzheimer’s, allergies, and behavioral issues and tell me it doesn’t matter. Look at me and tell me that stuff doesn’t matter, and has nothing to do with the products, the dozens of products, that we put on our skin everyday. You don’t know what you don’t know. But then there’s education, and when we know better, we do better.

I’ll bet that you want to be here for your children, and don’t willingly expose yourself or your family to toxins and chemicals that are known to cause cancer. You also want to spend less time at work and more time at home, with your dog, or your friends, or to raise your own kids because if anyone is spending the day with your baby, it should be You. You want to have meaning and purpose in your life... to stand by a cause worthwhile and to make a real difference, but maybe don’t know where to find that.

It’s possible to have it all. I’ve seen it in person and I’ve heard the same stories told a thousand different ways. If you think for one second you can’t have it all- your health, your loved ones, your time, your success & sense of pride- then let me show you proof. You deserve to have it all, too. And if you think you’re not ready or too busy, let me challenge you with this:

“All good in the World is done by people who stand up and show up before they are ready.”
